The details that matter
A polished curve with a softly textured side. Discover the details of your handmade Petal solid gold helix hoop.
1. Why you’ll love it
Petal adds a gentle contrast to the outer curve of your ear. One half stays slender, polished and round; the other is gradually hammered flatter and wider towards the opening, finishing at its broadest point with a neat, straight edge. A smooth inner curve keeps the shape clean, while the textured side catches the light.
We hammer each ring individually within that wider section. Broad, shallow impressions sit beside smaller, more defined marks, with naturally uneven spacing and direction. No two patterns are exactly alike. Your ring will share the design pictured, with the little differences that come from being made by hand.
Let it stand alone as a quiet detail, or pair it with smooth lobe hoops and tiny studs for an ear stack with a little more texture. Handmade to order with closely aligned ends, for fully healed helix piercings only.
2. Material & finish
Crafted from 14ct solid gold, never plated or gold-filled. A polished round-wire half meets a gradually flattened, hand-hammered half, bringing together smooth gold and naturally irregular texture.
- Available in yellow, white or rose gold
- A gently widening hammered side with a straight-cut broad end
- A smooth inner surface and polished round-wire section
- Individually hand-hammered, with a unique pattern on every ring
- Handmade to order in your selected size and gauge
- Designed for fully healed helix piercings
The photographs show the design and style of finish. The exact hammer marks will naturally differ on your ring.
3. Choosing your size
The inner diameter determines how closely Petal sits around the outer edge of your ear. Compare the options with a hoop that already fits you:
- 6mm: a smaller diameter for a close look, where your piercing position allows
- 7mm: a little more room while keeping the look compact
- 8mm: a larger curve with more of the hoop on show
The right diameter depends on your piercing position and the thickness of your ear. Choose the same gauge as your current well-fitting jewellery: 18G is 1.0mm and 20G is 0.8mm.
If you are unsure, compare the inner diameter of an existing hoop or ask your piercer to help you find a fit that sits comfortably without pressing into the ear.
The gauge refers to the slender round-wire section that passes through your piercing. The decorative hammered section is wider.
4. Wearing your seamless hoop
Open the hoop by gently twisting the ends sideways in opposite directions. Do not pull the ends directly apart, as this can distort its shape.
Guide the slender, smooth round-wire end through your fully healed piercing. Keep the wider, hammered section outside the piercing channel, then gently twist the ends back into alignment.
If your helix piercing is difficult to reach, or you are unsure how the wider section will sit, ask a professional piercer to fit it for you.
