Fit Helper

Is 9.5mm the right hoop size for you?

Choose 9.5mm if 9mm feels a little too close, but 10mm leaves more visible space than you want. It gives you a balanced middle-ground fit with slightly more room than 9mm, without looking as open as 10mm.

SizeFit feelBest for
9mmClose medium fitWhen you want a neater, closer look
9.5mmBalanced medium fitWhen 9mm feels tight but 10mm looks too loose
10mmMore relaxed fitWhen you want more movement or visible space

9.5mm gives you more room without going too large: close, comfortable, and balanced between 9mm and 10mm.

Half Size Fit

When 9mm is too tight and 10mm is too loose

On a healed piercing, a full 1mm size jump can make the hoop look and feel very different. 9.5mm gives you the middle ground: more comfortable than 9mm, but still neater than a full 10mm hoop.

9.5mm is the in-between size for healed piercings that need a little more breathing room than 9mm without moving up to a visibly looser 10mm fit.

Suitable Placements

May suit medium fully healed placements

9.5mm can suit fully healed piercings that need a neat medium hoop: not as close as 9mm, but not as visibly relaxed as 10mm.

Nostril piercings that need more room than 9mm
Helix piercings that feel tight in 9mm
Some septum piercings that need a close-to-medium fit
Some daith piercings
Small conch placements
Lobe piercings that need a neat medium hoop
9.5mm is a medium close-fitting hoop for many placements. If your piercing sits deeper, passes through thicker tissue, or you prefer a relaxed look, choose 10mm, 10.5mm or larger.

Size Difference

9mm vs 9.5mm vs 10mm: which size should you choose?

This is the key fit question for a balanced medium half size. Choose 9.5mm when 9mm feels tight but 10mm looks too open.

DiameterHow it looksChoose it if
9mmNeater and closerYou want a close medium fit and already know 9mm feels comfortable
9.5mmBalanced with slightly more room9mm feels tight but 10mm looks too open
10mmMore relaxedYou want easier movement or a more visible hoop

Gauge Guide

Choose your gauge

If you are replacing an existing hoop, choose the same gauge you already wear.

GaugeLook / feelBest for
22GVery fine and delicateSubtle healed piercings
20GDelicate everyday choiceNostril, helix or lobe piercings
18GSlightly stronger lookCartilage, septum or daith piercings already fitted for 18G

Metal Colour

Choose 14ct yellow gold or 14ct rose gold

Both options are solid 14ct gold, not plated or filled. Choose the colour that works best with your skin tone and the jewellery you already wear.

14ct Yellow Gold

Classic, warm and timeless for everyday wear.

14ct Rose Gold

Softer, warmer and more subtle against the skin. Our rose gold option is solid 14ct rose gold, not rose gold plated.

Material Trust

A balanced everyday hoop deserves real solid gold

A close-to-medium hoop sits near the skin every day, so the metal matters. This 9.5mm seamless hoop is made from solid 14ct gold wire for long-term wear in fully healed piercings.

14ct Solid Gold

Not plated, not filled, made for long-term wear.

Gold-Plated

Surface coating can wear away over time, exposing the base metal underneath.

Surgical Steel

Some alloys may not suit everyone with sensitive healed piercings.

Important Fit Note

For fully healed piercings only

This 9.5mm seamless hoop is designed for fully healed piercings only. Do not wear it in a fresh, healing, irritated or swollen piercing.

Measure Before Ordering

How to check if 9.5mm may fit

Check the inner diameter of the hoop you currently wear.
If 9mm feels tight, presses into the skin, or feels restrictive, 9.5mm may give you slightly more room.
If 10mm looks too loose or leaves more visible space than you want, 9.5mm may give you a neater look.
For a nostril piercing, measure from the centre of the piercing hole to the lower edge of the nostril where the hoop will sit.
For septum, daith or conch piercings, compare against the size you already wear rather than guessing from photos.
If you are unsure between two sizes, choose the larger size or ask your piercer.

Common Questions

About the 9.5mm seamless hoop

Who should choose a 9.5mm seamless hoop?

Choose 9.5mm if your piercing is fully healed and 9mm feels slightly tight but 10mm looks too loose.

Is 9.5mm a common hoop size?

9.5mm is a half size, so it is less common than standard 9mm or 10mm hoops. It is useful when standard sizes do not give the fit you want.

Is 9.5mm good for nostril piercings?

It can suit healed nostril piercings that need slightly more room than 9mm but still want a neat look. If your piercing sits higher or your nostril tissue is thicker, choose 10mm or larger.

Is 9.5mm good for septum piercings?

It may suit some fully healed septum piercings that need a close-to-medium fit, but many septum piercings need 10mm or larger. Check your current jewellery size before choosing 9.5mm.

Can I wear 9.5mm in a daith piercing?

It may suit some fully healed daith piercings, but daith sizing depends heavily on anatomy and placement. If you are unsure, choose a larger size or ask your piercer.

Can I wear 9.5mm in a conch piercing?

Only for some small, fully healed conch placements. Many conch piercings need larger diameters, such as 10mm, 11mm, 12mm or more, depending on anatomy.

Is rose gold still solid gold?

Yes. Choose 14ct rose gold if you prefer a softer colour. It is solid 14ct rose gold, not rose gold plated.

What gauge should I choose?

Choose the same gauge you already wear. 20G gives a delicate look, 18G is slightly thicker, 22G is very fine, and 16G should only be chosen if your piercing already wears 16G.

Is 9.5mm better than 9mm?

Not always. 9.5mm is better if 9mm feels tight, presses into the skin, or feels restrictive. If 9mm already feels comfortable and looks right, you may not need to size up.

Is 9.5mm better than 10mm?

Choose 9.5mm if 10mm looks too open or leaves more visible space than you want. Choose 10mm if you prefer easier movement or a more relaxed fit.

Can I wear 9.5mm in a new piercing?

No. This seamless hoop is for fully healed piercings only.
