The word gold can mean very different things in jewellery — from a thin coating over a base metal to solid gold all the way through. For piercing jewellery, the difference matters because the metal sits in close contact with your skin for long periods of time.
The material
The same gold all the way through
14ct solid gold contains 58.3% gold, alloyed for strength and everyday durability. Unlike gold-plated jewellery, it is not a thin surface coating over another metal — the material is solid throughout. Stepoy uses nickel-free 14ct solid gold for healed piercing jewellery that is made for long-term, everyday wear.
