A tiny oval made for your rook. The flat polished shape gives the hoop a soft geometric detail inside the ear, with a slightly longer outline than a circle while still keeping the overall look simple.

Choose a 5, 6 or 7mm inner diameter, 18G or 20G, and yellow, white or rose gold for your fully healed rook piercing. If you already wear a rook hoop that feels comfortable, matching its inner diameter and gauge is the easiest place to start. A closer look at your oval rook hoop

The oval is approximately 3mm, with a flat polished finish and a slightly elongated shape. It sits neatly inside the rook and gives the hoop a softer geometric look than a triangle or diamond.

Compared with our Circle design, the oval has a longer outline and a little more direction. Compared with the Gold Ball, it sits flatter against the hoop and feels more low-profile.

If you like simple shapes but want something a little less expected than a circle, the oval gives your rook a soft, polished detail that is still easy to wear every day.

Its approximately 3mm size keeps it compact, while the slightly longer shape makes it a touch more noticeable than a round disc without becoming busy.

Both the oval-disc motif and the hoop are made from genuine 14ct solid gold, not a gold coating over another metal. It’s nickel-free and handmade to order for a fully healed rook piercing.

The approximately 3mm oval is a fixed, flat polished solid-gold motif with no gemstone, prongs or dangling parts. The hoop itself remains round; only the decorative motif is oval-shaped.

Rook sizing can vary quite a bit from ear to ear, so the easiest reference is a rook hoop you already know fits comfortably.

5mm: the closest fit in this range
6mm: a little more room and a useful middle option
7mm: more clearance if your rook is thicker or you prefer a slightly more open look

If you already wear a rook hoop, measure straight across the inside of the ring and choose the same inner diameter.

For wire thickness, match your current jewellery: 18G = 1.0mm or 20G = 0.8mm. If you’re not sure what you currently wear, your piercer can check it for you.

To open it, gently twist the two ends sideways in opposite directions rather than pulling them apart. Guide one end through the piercing, then twist the hoop back into alignment.

Rotate the hoop until the oval sits where you like it. Rook anatomy and piercing angles vary, so the motif may sit a little differently from ear to ear. If it feels difficult to fit, a piercer can help.
