The details that matter
Discover Luma: a solid gold rook ring with hand-hammered detail around the entire outer edge and a smooth, polished front and inner surface.
1. Why you’ll love it
A quiet flash of gold in the upper fold of your ear. Nestled within a suitable healed rook piercing, it adds a fine textured detail beside your favourite smooth hoops and studs.
The entire outer circumference is hammered by hand with tiny, irregular transverse marks: short strokes across the outer edge that catch the light in little flashes. The front-facing side and inner surface remain smooth and polished.
The width, depth, angle and spacing of these small marks vary naturally with each hammer stroke. No two rings have exactly the same pattern; yours will share the design pictured, with details of its own.
Each Luma ring is handmade to order, with closely aligned ends for an almost seamless look. Sold individually, for suitable, fully healed rook piercings.
2. Material & finish
Crafted from 14ct solid gold, never plated or gold-filled. Hand hammering follows the whole outer circumference, while the front-facing side and inner surface are left smooth and polished.
- Available in yellow, white or rose gold
- Small, irregular transverse hammer marks across the full outer edge
- A smooth front-facing side and polished inner surface
- Handmade variations in the width, depth and spacing of each short mark
- Photographs show the design; the exact hammer pattern varies from ring to ring
- Made to order in your chosen size and gauge, for suitable, fully healed rook piercings
3. Choosing your size
Luma is available in 4–8mm inner diameters. A rook sits within a small cartilage fold, so choose your fit carefully:
- 4–5mm: the smallest options, only where your anatomy and piercing position allow a comfortable fit
- 6mm: a compact curve, depending on your piercing position
- 7mm: a little extra space while keeping the look understated
- 8mm: a larger, more visible curve
Choose the same gauge as your current well-fitting jewellery: 20G is 0.8mm, 18G is 1.0mm and 16G is 1.2mm.
Your ideal diameter depends on your anatomy and piercing position. If you have only worn a curved barbell, ask your piercer to confirm whether a hoop is suitable and which diameter and gauge will fit without pressing into the fold.
4. Wearing your seamless hoop
Open the hoop by gently twisting the ends sideways in opposite directions. Do not pull the ends directly apart, as this can distort its shape.
Guide one end through your healed piercing, then twist the ends back into alignment. If the piercing is difficult to reach, ask a professional piercer to fit it for you.
5. A little something to unwrap
