A closer look at your cross rook hoop
The cross is approximately 3mm, with a simple polished outline and a compact fixed shape. It sits neatly inside the rook and gives the hoop a recognisable detail without adding stones or dangling movement.
This is the simple standalone cross design, distinct from our Graveyard Cross, which includes a low ground-like base beneath the cross.
1. Why you’ll love it
The small polished cross gives your rook a clear motif while keeping the jewellery neat and easy to layer. At approximately 3mm, the shape stays compact inside the ear rather than taking over the stack.
For some wearers, a cross may carry personal or religious meaning. Others simply like the shape. The design does not assume one meaning for everyone.
2. Solid gold, never plated
Both the cross and the hoop are made from genuine 14ct solid gold, not a gold coating over another metal. It’s nickel-free and handmade to order for a fully healed rook piercing.
- Yellow gold for a warm classic finish

- Rose gold for a softer contrast

3. Choose your rook fit
Rook sizing can vary quite a bit from ear to ear, so the easiest reference is a rook hoop you already know fits comfortably.
- 5mm: the closest fit in this range
- 6mm: a little more room and a useful middle option
- 7mm: more clearance if your rook is thicker or you prefer a slightly more open look
If you already wear a rook hoop, measure straight across the inside of the ring and choose the same inner diameter.
For wire thickness, match your current jewellery: 18G = 1.0mm or 20G = 0.8mm. If you’re not sure what you currently wear, your piercer can check it for you.
This hoop is for a traditional rook piercing rather than a faux rook.
4. How to wear it
This cross hoop is made for a fully healed rook piercing.
To open it, gently twist the two ends sideways in opposite directions rather than pulling them apart. Guide one end through the piercing, then twist the hoop back into alignment.
Rotate the hoop until the cross sits where you like it. Because the motif has a directional shape, the exact facing angle can vary with your anatomy and piercing angle. If it feels difficult to fit, a piercer can help.
