3. Choose your helix fit
Not sure whether to choose 5, 6 or 7mm? Start by looking at how close your helix piercing sits to the outer edge of your ear. Cartilage thickness and piercing angle can make a difference too.
- 5mm — a very close fit for piercings sitting close to the rim, with little cartilage to clear
- 6mm — a neat close fit for many helix placements near the outer edge
- 7mm — gives a little more room if your piercing sits further in, your cartilage is thicker, or you simply prefer a less snug look
Every ear is a little different, so these are starting points rather than fixed rules. If you already have a helix hoop that fits well, measure straight across its inside edge and choose the same inner diameter.
For wire thickness, match the jewellery you already wear: 18G = 1.0mm or 20G = 0.8mm.
4. How to wear it
This seamless bat hoop is made for a fully healed helix piercing.
Gently twist the two ends sideways in opposite directions. Try not to pull them straight apart, as that can change the shape of the hoop. Hold the hoop itself rather than using the bat as a handle.
Guide one end through the piercing, twist the ends back into alignment, then rotate the hoop until the bat sits where you like it. The final angle can vary slightly from ear to ear depending on anatomy and piercing direction.
