Daith Ring Size Guide

Nestled in the fold: getting the right fit

The daith piercing sits in the innermost cartilage fold of the ear — a small, curved space. Size matters more here than almost any other piercing because the ring needs to sit naturally within the fold.

8mm The most common daith size. Visible enough to appreciate, compact enough to look natural.MOST POPULAR
9mm A slightly roomier fit. Good if your daith fold is deeper or if you prefer a little more movement in the ring.
10mm For a more open, relaxed fit. Works well on ears with a wider or less defined daith fold.
11-12mm The largest daith sizes. Less common — best suited to ears with an unusually large or shallow fold, or for a deliberately oversized look.

Migraine note: Some people choose daith piercings for potential migraine relief. Whatever your reason, quality jewellery supports better healing — and a well-healed piercing is a comfortable piercing. Read more in our daith piercing and migraines guide.

Common Questions

Can a daith piercing help with migraines?

Some people report migraine relief after getting a daith piercing, though clinical evidence is limited. The theory relates to an acupuncture pressure point near the daith location. The NHS does not currently recommend it as a migraine treatment. That said, if you're already interested in a daith piercing, potential relief is a welcome bonus. Ourdedicated guidecovers the evidence in detail.

Why is 14K gold especially important for daith piercings?

The daith sits deep in the ear where moisture and warmth can create an environment prone to irritation. Cheap metals react more aggressively in these conditions. 14K solid gold is biocompatible and inert — it doesn't react with moisture or body chemistry, reducing the risk of bumps and prolonged healing.

How long before I can change my daith jewellery?

Daith piercings are one of the slower-healing ear piercings — typically 6-12 months. We recommend waiting at least 6 months, and ideally checking with your piercer before making a change. The deep cartilage location means it's important not to rush.
