3. Choosing your size
Rook piercings sit within a tight cartilage fold, so an accurate diameter is especially important:
- 6mm: compact and close-fitting
- 7mm: a balanced fit for many rook piercings
- 8mm: more room and a more visible curve
Choose the same gauge as your current jewellery. 16G is common for rook piercings, while 18G creates a slightly finer look.
Rook anatomy varies considerably. If you have only worn a curved barbell, ask your piercer to confirm whether a hoop is suitable and which diameter you need.
4. Wearing your seamless hoop
Open the hoop by gently twisting the ends sideways in opposite directions. Do not pull the ends directly apart, as this can distort its shape.
Guide one end through your healed piercing, then twist the ends back into alignment. If the piercing is difficult to reach, ask a professional piercer to fit it for you.
