The details that matter
A polished curve with a texture all its own. Discover the shape, finish and fit of your handmade Petal solid gold conch hoop.
1. Why you’ll love it
Petal follows the curve from your conch piercing around the outer edge of your ear. One half stays slender, smooth and round; the other is gradually hammered flatter and wider towards the opening, finishing at its broadest point with a neat, straight edge. A smooth inner curve keeps the silhouette clean, while the textured side catches the light.
Every ring is hammered by hand within that wider section. Broad, shallow impressions meet smaller, more defined marks, with naturally uneven direction and spacing. Your Petal will share the design pictured, with a pattern that belongs to it alone.
Let it be the focal point of a simple ear stack, or pair it with polished lobe hoops and a tiny helix stud for a mix of smooth gold and texture. Handmade to order with closely aligned ends, for fully healed conch piercings only.
2. Material & finish
Crafted from 14ct solid gold, never plated or gold-filled. A polished round-wire half meets a gradually flattened, hand-hammered half, creating a gentle contrast of smooth gold and naturally irregular texture.
- Choose yellow, white or rose gold
- A gently widening hammered side with a straight-cut broad end
- A smooth inner surface and polished round-wire section
- Individually hand-hammered, with a unique pattern on every ring
- Made to order in 10–15mm inner diameters and 18G or 16G
- Designed for fully healed conch piercings
The photographs show the design and style of finish. The exact hammer marks will naturally differ on your ring.
3. Choosing your size
Petal is available in 10–15mm inner diameters. The right size needs to span the distance from your conch piercing around the outer edge of your ear without pressing into it. Compare with a hoop that already fits you:
- 10–11mm: the smaller options, where your ear shape and piercing position allow
- 12–13mm: a larger curve with more space around the ear
- 14–15mm: the roomiest options, for placements that need a wider diameter
Choose the same gauge as your current well-fitting jewellery: 18G is 1.0mm and 16G is 1.2mm.
Your piercing position and ear anatomy determine the fit. A larger diameter may be needed simply to reach around your ear, rather than to create a looser look. If you are unsure, ask your piercer to confirm your diameter and gauge before ordering.
The gauge refers to the slender round-wire section that passes through your piercing. The decorative hammered section is wider.
4. Wearing your seamless hoop
Open the hoop by gently twisting the ends sideways in opposite directions. Do not pull the ends directly apart, as this can distort its shape.
Guide the slender, smooth round-wire end through your fully healed piercing. Keep the wider, hammered section outside the piercing channel, then gently twist the ends back into alignment.
If your conch piercing is difficult to reach, or you are unsure how the wider section will sit, ask a professional piercer to fit it for you.
