The Ultimate Tea Packing List for Weekend Getaways

48-Hour Brew Plan (use as a guide, not gospel)

Friday PM → 1 × herbal/rooibos (unwind)
Saturday AM → 1 × sturdy black (get going)
Saturday PM → 1 × green/oolong (light lift)
Saturday Late → 1 × decaf/herbal (sleep-friendly)
Sunday AM → 1 × breakfast blend (journey home)

Swap slots as you like. The point: plan when you’ll actually drink tea so you don’t overpack.

Pack by bag type (choose ONE layout)

A. Micro cross-body (space is tight)

  • 1 × slim tea caddy (3–4 sachets)

  • 1 × sweetener or brew-note (flat)

  • Hotel mug or take-away cup at destination

B. Daypack / tote

  • 1 × slim tea caddy (4–5 sachets)

  • 1 × fold-flat silicone cup (optional)

  • 1 × mini stirrer (paper/wood)

  • 1 × zip tissue sleeve (drying the cup)

C. Carry-on roller

  • 2 × slim tins: “Daytime” & “Evening” mixes

  • 1 × small zip pouch for stirrers/napkins

  • 1 × airtight snack bag (keep scents separate)

The Kit: Essentials Only (edit to taste)

  1. Slim metal tea tincrumb-proof, odour block, holds 3–5 sachets, about 0.4 in thick.

  2. Sachets — mix of breakfast/green/decaf/herbal (wraps on = hygienic).

  3. Mini stirrer — wood or paper; rinses easily.

  4. Fold-flat cup (nice-to-have) — only if you hate hotel mugs.

  5. Note card — brew times or “today’s line-up”.

Weather pairings (because tea mood follows the sky)

  • Chilly / windy → malty black (Yorkshire-style), ginger

  • Mild / bright → green or light oolong

  • Rainy → rooibos + peppermint combo (cozy, caffeine-free)

  • Heatwave → mint or lemon & ginger (hot or iced in a takeaway cup)

Packing maths (so you stop guessing)

Cups/day × days + 1 buffer = sachets to pack

  • Light drinker (1–2/day, 2 days) → 3–5

  • Keen drinker (2–3/day, 2 days) → 5–7 (use 2 tins or top up on site)

Avoid these five mess-makers

  1. Loose leaf thrown in raw → use mini paper sachets.

  2. Next to gum/perfume → scents migrate; separate compartments.

  3. Wet kettle contacts → dry the tin before refilling.

  4. Overpacking → follow the maths; shops exist at destination.

  5. Flappy pouches → they shed dust; rigid tin wins for handbags.

Three pre-built mixes (copy, done)

  • Classic Weekend (5 bags)
    2 × breakfast · 1 × green · 1 × peppermint · 1 × decaf

  • Early-rise Outdoors (4–5 bags)
    2 × sturdy blacks · 1 × lemon & ginger · 1 × green · (+1 × rooibos)

  • Sleep-First City Break (4 bags)
    1 × decaf black · 2 × herbal (peppermint/chamomile) · 1 × breakfast

Stacking tip: alternate corners so your lid closes perfectly flush.

Quick care (30 seconds)

Wipe, air open overnight after herbals, and only refill when fully dry. For lingering scents, a pinch of dry bicarb on tissue for a few hours helps (remove before use).

FAQs (weekend edition)

How many bags fit the STEPOY tin?
Usually 3–5 depending on wrapper size (inner 3.74 × 3.74 × 0.35 in).

Can I bring tea bags in carry-on?
Dry sachets are generally fine in many regions; always check your airline/airport guidance.

Do I need a special cup?
Not required. A fold-flat cup is handy if you dislike hotel mugs.
